  1. WHAT?
What about Oxford, Cambridge, Glasgow, Edinburgh and so so many more!!! Look at the British universities which outdate all of these by many centuries and in my opinion out-rank them all but anyone would say they deserve to be on the list.

  2. I respect your opinion, but the world is greater by far than the confines of the United States. While I agree that the universities you like have very beautiful buildings and grounds I think you need a little more exposure and variety. University of Debrecen in Hungary for instance is one of my favorites.

    Thanks

    • I’m not a big fan of the faux baroque architecture of the University of Debrecen. I guess I am biased to British Uni’s because I am British. Still, because we have the oldest standing universities in the world I find that many others simply seem like a pale copy-cat attempt.

  3. I agree that the schools are very beautiful, but while I agree they might be the most beautiful in America, I don’t think they are the most beautiful in the world. Britain has more beautiful schools

    • really? from pictures of seen, it looks kind of wierd…but I’ve never been there to be fair…in Australia the Universities of Melbourne and Sydney win hands down, especially some of the residential colleges, and old arts and old quad at melbourne!

  4. I agree with the other comments. Americans are so stuck in their own little worlds that the most beautiful universities in the ‘whole’ world just all happen to be in the USA. Try most of the universities in Europe, especially the university of Vienna.

    • Indeed, University of Vienna is spectacular, but your comment is harsh. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I graduated from Yale University and have been to many European universities. I still consider Yale superior in beauty to many of the campuses I have had the pleasure to visit. Notre Dame is also one of my favorites.

Debrecen is not as beautiful as many of the universities on this list, in my opinion.

  5. Vassar and Colgate are quite beautiful, and many think that Colorado at Boulder is gorgeous. WSU (which you have) is also quite spectacular.

There are hundreds of beautiful campuses in Europe as well, notably Italian Universties, Spanish, German, British, French, Austrian, well, you get the picture.

  6. a) These are all american.
    b) These are (generally) ugly.
    c) Have you heard of:
Oxford University, ENGLAND ; Cambridge University, ENGLAND ; The Sorbonne University, FRANCE ; University of Trier, GERMANY ; Trinity College Dublin, IRELAND ; Any University that is actually more than 2 or 3 hundred years old?

  7. a) they are not all american
    b) they are not ugly
    c) I study in ENGLAND and 200 or 300 years won’t make them beautiful, trust me! you british guys are over proud of your universities.

and again c) I don’t know about all the universities around the world! I update this list as others comment.

    d) thanks for your comment, I appreciate it.

  8. i´m sure you´ve never been at the UK as a student… or Europe in general.
The day you go out you´ll realize how wrong this “top2 is
i mean.. Pepperdine? Agnes Scott? ´cmon
is this a list of 5stars hotels?

i study at the University of Glasgow (im from Argentina) and to give you and idea it is like going to Hogwarts.
    i mean seriously…

    • wrong, in fact I do study in UK! I’m studying in University of Surrey in Guildford. one of the best campus in UK! of course I never been in most of them, and I didn’t have a look at all the universities in the world. I just asked other people and gathered a list.

      • It is not anything like the best UK campus. You clearly haven’t visited many. The UK universities dominate the world top 100, it’s a fact. That’s why we’re proud of them.

  9. well, a rather narrow minded selection I must say! I think that it is completely undebatable that Oxford and Cambridge will top any such list! But there are so many universities all over the world, but mostly in Europe, some of these aren’t even particularly nice!

  10. Why isn’t the University of California at Santa Cruz on this list? It is like living in a national park, a very beautiful national park. When I was going there I would get up in the morning and walk through fog and California oaks and redwoods and wandering deer and wild flowers to the art studios surrounded by tall redwoods. When the fog burned off I could look down the hill to the Monterey Bay. It soured me on many campuses when I went looking at possible grad schools.

    • As I said in the post, I didn’t go to all these universities myself. Just what I saw in internet. just pictures.

If you think Chicago should be on the list, please send me some beautiful pictures and I put it here ;)

  11. Queens, CANADA, The University of Sydney, AUSTRALIA, Cambridge, ENGLAND, Aarhus, DENMARK, University of Copenhagen, DENMARK.

It is pathetic how stuck in this little US-centric world you are. European Unis are beautiful. Scandinavian architecture is stunning. The quad at Sydney Uni where it is nearly always sunny is renowned for it’s brilliance. Grow up and open your eyes!
